In this project, a Phrase Book & Dictionary in the Constance Lake First Nation dialects of Cree, Oji-Cree and Ojibwe will be developed pocket book style. It will include translations in these languages that are beginner and intermediate and will cover the following sections:

  • How to use the book, top 10 tips
  • Cree, Oji-Cree and Ojibwe sections that may include:
    • Pronunciation guide
    • Syllabics (Cree section only)
    • Greetings & introductions
    • Saying a prayer
    • Time phrases
    • Weather, days, months, seasons phrases
    • Phrases in the home and with family
    • Phases in the community
    • Phrases at school or work
    • Phrases while doing traditional activities
    • Useful expressions
    • Indigenous Language to English dictionary (English to Cree, English to Oji-Cree, English to Ojibwe)

A Project Coordinator will be working with ROL-CLFN and a Master Speakers Advisory Group. Upon completion, pocket books will distributed to all schools in the community, at community events, and will be available online for off-reserve members.
