In this project, a Phrase Book & Dictionary in the Constance Lake First Nation dialects of Cree, Oji-Cree and Ojibwe will be developed pocket book style. It will include translations in these languages that are beginner and intermediate and will cover the following sections:
- How to use the book, top 10 tips
- Cree, Oji-Cree and Ojibwe sections that may include:
- Pronunciation guide
- Syllabics (Cree section only)
- Greetings & introductions
- Saying a prayer
- Time phrases
- Weather, days, months, seasons phrases
- Phrases in the home and with family
- Phases in the community
- Phrases at school or work
- Phrases while doing traditional activities
- Useful expressions
- Indigenous Language to English dictionary (English to Cree, English to Oji-Cree, English to Ojibwe)
A Project Coordinator will be working with ROL-CLFN and a Master Speakers Advisory Group. Upon completion, pocket books will distributed to all schools in the community, at community events, and will be available online for off-reserve members.
